Market Moments: The Puzzle Man

New vendor this season, SP Unlimited, has quickly become a market favorite! John makes wooden ornaments and puzzles on this very intimidating machine that you probably don't want to get your fingers stuck in.

Vendor Profile: Tutu's Storybooks

Meet The Book Lady. Maimunah of Tutu's Storybooks comes to the market with a tent full of books for kids from all walks of life. Maimunah's mission of providing access to diverse kids books resonates so well with our FSM customers that she can hardly keep enough in stock to come back to the market! Get to know this well read educator in this week's Vendor Profile and stop by her tent this Saturday to find your child's next favorite story.

Who are you, where are you from and how are you known at the market?

My name is Maimunah Marah and I'm from the DC Metro area (aka the DMV) and I'm known as "The Book Lady."

How did you get started in your business and what is your future vision?

Before becoming a Homeschooler, I was an Early Intervention Teacher. I have always worked to promote early literacy in the urban classroom and the home setting. My mission is to bring more diverse books to the community and help keep diverse books in circulation.

Why do you do what you do? What is so special about your business?

Selling diverse children's books is a very important because ALL children need to see themselves reflected in books, especially the most underrepresented populations. When children have better access to books they can relate to, it helps to motivate them to read more and it helps to build the foundation to a life-long relationship with literature.

What is your favorite thing about FSM??

FSM is conveniently located in Downtown Silver Spring, it has great live entertainment, enthusiastic shoppers, unique finds, and a great family of vendors.

Keep up with Tutu's Storybooks on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
